Wedding interpreter in Italy
Are you getting married and looking for a wedding interpreter in Italy who can provide real-time translation for you, your future husband/ wife – who comes from a different country than yours? Do you need a wedding translator to assist your guests who don’t speak Italian, ensuring they understand everything that’s said during the ceremony and celebrations?
If the languages in question are English or Spanish, you’ve come to the right place! I’m Eleonora Monoscalco, an interpreter and translator with years of experience in weddings, conferences, trade shows, and events. I have more than 50 positive reviews and hold an AITI attestation of quality and professional qualification (pursuant to Italian Law No. 4/2013).

Looking for a wedding interpreter in Milan
If you’re getting married in Milan and need a Spanish-Italian English-Italian interpreter to translate for your guests who don’t speak both languages, feel free to contact me. Milan is where I live, so I’ll be at your wedding venue in no time!
What type of wedding interpreting service will you use?
It’s your special day, so it’s up to you to decide which option you prefer! I can provide simultaneous or consecutive interpretation: for simultaneous interpretation, I’ll use my own system of 30 transmitter radios to convey what’s being said in real time into the other language, without appearing in all your photos.
Alternatively, if you prefer consecutive interpretation, I can sit beside you, the bride and groom, take notes, and translate after each interaction.

But what exactly does a wedding interpreter do?
- During the ceremony, the interpreter translates the reading of certain sections of the Italian Civil Code, the personal details of the bride and groom and the witnesses, and the choice of property regime.
- If necessary, the interpreter remains during the reception and assists a small group of foreign guests by helping them interact with others and providing translation at all times. If the group is larger, the interpreter provides simultaneous translation using transmitter radios.
- S/he provides oral translations of speeches and poems prepared by guests, preserving every nuance. If the speeches are read rather than improvised, be sure to give your interpreter a copy so they can ensure the best possible rendering of the most striking poems and anecdotes.
- S/he remains available for the entire duration of the celebration and is ready to step in upon request. Don’t worry! You are under no obligation to offer them the wedding reception meal; a simple meal is enough, and they’ll be back in action right away!
Is it really necessary to hire a professional?
As my clients know, I’m an honest and transparent professional. I’ll never pressure you into booking one of my services. So, here’s my answer to your question: sometimes it’s necessary, other times it’s not.
It depends on the municipality you choose. Some only accept professional interpreters, while others allow a bilingual friend or acquaintance to translate for you.
If you’re facing financial difficulties and the municipality itself suggested this option, you can avoid hiring a professional interpreter.
If, on the other hand, you can afford a small investment, I recommend hiring a professional wedding translator: the ceremony will run smoothly and accurately, and no one will be left out of the celebration.
Translating is tiring work, so after a couple of drinks, I can assure you that no bilingual guest will want to keep doing it, and in the end, the monolingual guests will be left out of the party and the fun. That would be a real shame!
How much does a wedding interpreter in Italy cost?
The price varies depending on the duration and type of assignment: interpreting services for administrative procedures alone cost less than attending the entire event, including the celebrations.
Another factor affecting the price is the number of days the assignment spans. In fact, while in some municipalities (such as Milan) it is enough for the interpreter to be present only on the day of the wedding ceremony, in others they must sign the documents several days before the ceremony.

In any case, keep in mind that the interpreter’s fee is significantly lower than that of photographers, florists, and other vendors, because it requires less time, preparation, and equipment.
