Here’s something many people don’t know. Unlike in some other countries, in Italy there is no official national register of interpreters. Interpreting is mainly a freelance profession, and it is not formally regulated by law.

More specifically, this means that almost anyone could act as an interpreter – which can make it extremely difficult to identify truly qualified professionals.

🗣️ Fortunately, highly trained and experienced interpreters do exist. Many of us have graduated from renowned interpreting schools, carried out countless interpreting sessions, received strong client feedback, and constantly invest in professional development through CPD courses.

Last but not least, we are members of professional associations of Interpreters and Translators, and a few of us hold professional qualifications and quality certifications as well.

after successfully passing a peer-reviewed conference interpreting competency exam.

✔️ In the picture below, you can see my Attestation of Quality and Professional Qualification issued according to Italian Law No. 4/2013.

What is more, I am also a qualified member of ANITI (The Italian National Association of Translators and Interpreters), with Professional Civil Liability insurance coverage included.
