Tourism translator
Are you looking for a Spanish, English or Italian tourism translator in Milan, Rome, Bologna, or other Italian cities?
Are you organizing a conference, a convention, a destination showcase of your city for tour operators, a guided tour, an excursion, a festival, or another type of tourism event, and do you need a premium translation for an international audience?
Look no further! I’m Eleonora Monoscalco, a specialized tourism translator and interpreter with extensive experience, over 50 positive reviews, and an AITI attestation of quality and professional qualification (pursuant to Italian Law No. 4/2013).

In what settings have you worked as a tourism translator and interpreter?
- Destination showcases for local tour operators
- Conferences and conventions
- Trade shows and exhibitions
- Festivals and cultural celebrations
- Guided tours
- Excursions and itineraries
- Cultural and heritage events
Is it always necessary to hire a professional?
Honestly, it isn’t always necessary! For most of the events highlighted above, partnering with a specialized tourism interpreter makes all the difference – driving company revenue and generating buzz among industry professionals and the general public for destinations – whether they are iconic hotspots or hidden gems.
When it comes to tours and guided visits, if all participants share the same native language, a tourism interpreter isn’t required – a tour guide or tour leader is perfectly sufficient (if the group is international, the operating language is usually English).
Can you provide some examples of your tourism translation and interpreting projects?
I started working in the tourism industry in 2019 in Seville, where I initially gained hands-on experience facilitating city tours in English and Spanish while expanding my services to provide tourism translation and interpretation across various cities throughout Andalusia.

Among the most prominent assignments I have undertaken out as a specialized tourism interpreter are presentations of cities and tourist destinations tailored for Italian tour operators.
For instance, in October 2023, I provided simultaneous interpretation services for the Spanish Tourism Office in Milan during a high-profile presentation of Spanish UNESCO World Heritage Cities to local tourism agencies.
During this prestigious event, I had the honor of providing Spanish to Italian interpretation for the official remarks delivered by Luis Yeray Gutiérrez (mayor of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and President of the Group of Spanish UNESCO World Heritage Cities) and Juan José González (Sales Director of Paradores).
This assignment was an absolute highlight for me, perfectly aligning with my deep-rooted passion for Spain.
On that occasion, I was able to channel my deep appreciation for the country’s rich history and culture directly to the Italian tour operators. These professionals were tasked with curating bespoke travel itineraries and promoting Spain’s 15 Spanish extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Sites – including Alcalá de Henares, Ávila, Baeza, Cáceres, Córdoba, Cuenca, Ibiza, Mérida, Salamanca, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Santiago de Compostela, Segovia, Tarragona, Toledo, and Úbeda – to Italian tourists.

Many people may not realize that Spain offers far more than just the iconic sights of Ibiza, Madrid, and Barcelona – there is an abundance of breathtaking destinations waiting to be discovered, savored, and experienced.
Without an expert Italian-Spanish interpreter who can truly do justice to these hidden gems, local operators might miss the full value of what they have to offer, ultimately limiting the travel options recommended to clients. Why take that risk?
Another prominent example of a destination showcase I supported as a consecutive tourism interpreter was the presentation of Quito, Ecuador’s capital, hosted by Visit Quito in Rome in May 2024.

Following a bilateral meeting between Pabel Muñoz López, Mayor of Quito, and Roberto Gualtieri, Mayor of Rome, I had the privilege of providing consecutive interpretation – between Italian and Spanish and vice versa – during the presentation of the city of Quito, delivered by the mayor and the director of Visit Quito.
We demonstrated to Italian tour operators that, despite its compact size, Ecuador is every bit as spectacular as its larger Latin American counterparts. The country boasts an extraordinary historical, cultural, religious, culinary, and ecological heritage – did you know that just outside Quito, you can spot condors and spectacled bears?
This is paired with the renowned, warm hospitality of the people of Quito and all Ecuadorians. So, when planning a future itinerary, look beyond the Galápagos Islands and dedicate a few days to exploring Quito, where you can savor authentic encebollado and exquisite Ecuadorian ceviche. It’s an experience you won’t regret!

Another major assignment I undertook as an Italian-English interpreter within the tourism and trade sectors was providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation services during an official trade mission hosted by members of the Wyoming Business Council. This high-profile delegation was aimed at strengthening tourism and commercial relations between Italy and the U.S. state of Wyoming.

How do I know if your tourism interpreting and translation services are right for me?
My specialized tourism interpreting and translation services are the perfect fit if:
- You are organizing a high-impact event – such as a conference, a convention, a destination showcase, a trade show, a festival, a guided tour, or a cultural celebration – and you want to break down linguistic and cultural barriers. I ensure that every attendee can engage, present and connect seamlessly in their native language without a single hitch.
- Some, but not all, of your attendees understand English well. You want everyone to be able to participate equally in your event and don’t want to exclude anyone.
- Some event participants can communicate well in English and wish to deliver their presentation in English, but not all speakers are comfortable doing so. Opting for simultaneous interpretation allows all participants to express themselves fully in their native language.
- You know Spanish or Italian, or your counterparts have a decent level of English, but you have very specific goals and do not want to risk missing any of the details of what is being said.
- You do not have a good level of Italian and/or Spanish, and your counterparts don’t have a good command of English, and you want communication to go smoothly.
